Introduction to Power BI Paginated Reports

During the first part of the session, we will learn what is Power BI Paginated Reports? When we can consume Paginated Reports? Also, we will discuss the prerequisites and licenses required to get started with Power BI Paginated reports. Stay tuned throughout the entire session series to learn more about the Paginated reports.

Overview of Power BI Report Builder

During the second part of the session, we will talk about the overview of Power BI Report Builder. We can develop Paginated reports in Power BI using Report Builder. Before we get started with report builder we need to understand different elements and components of Power BI Report Builder. When we open Power BI Report builder we can see different blocks or elements in Report Builder (RB). Before we get started with Paginated report development it is necessary to aware of all the elements of the report builder. first, we will open to Power BI report builder and talk about getting Started options. Then we will discuss different components like Quick Access command, Authentication switch, Report Canvas, Ruler, Dataset pane, property pane, Row group, and column group, Zoom In and Zoom Out options, Ribbon property, and Runtime options while running the paginated report.

How to Connect Data Source and Dataset in Power BI Paginated Report?

During the third part of the session, we will learn how we can connect Datasource and Dataset in Power BI Paginated Report. At this moment, with Paginated reports, we can connect online data sources as well as on-premise data sources. During this entire series, I’m going to use SQL Server as a data source. We will check how we can connect On-Premise SQL Server Dataset with Power BI Paginated Reports? Once we connect our data source, we will connect different Dataset with our Paginated Reports. Here, we are going to consume parameterized stored procedures to develop our Power BI Report.  Also, we will learn how we can create a parameter in the Paginated report.

Create your first Power BI Paginated Report

Welcome to Power BI Paginated Reports beginner tutorial series. You are watching the fourth part of the series and during this session, we will learn how you can create your first Power BI Paginated Report in Power BI. Paginated report facilitates to create pixel-perfect report for printing purpose. Here, first, we will create a template for Power BI Paginated Report. First, we will create a header and footer section for our Power BI Paginated report. We will use advanced expressions as well. We will also learn how we can perform formatting for our Power BI Paginated report. Once we prepare our Page template with header and footer we will prepare the Body section for our Power BI Paginated Report. We will use Tabular Matrix to build our Power BI Report.

Gateway Installation and Publishing Paginated Report to Power BI Service

During the fifth part of the session, we will learn once we develop our Power BI report, the next step is to publish our Power BI Paginate Report. We can publish a Paginated report to Power BI Premium workspace. Once we publish the Paginated report, we need to install a Gateway if we used an On-Premise server. Here, we have used SQL Server On-Premise Data Source. So, we need to configure Data Gateway. Once we completed the gateway installation process, we will need to configure gateway to Power BI Service. Once we configure those steps, we are good!
